Meditation is developing inner strength and purity of thought
Definition
The New Unger's Bible Dictionary Defines Meditiation as: "A private devotional act, consisting in deliberate
reflection upon some spiritual truth or mystery, accompanied by mental prayer and by acts of the reffection
and of the will, especially formation of resolutions as to future conduct" (p. 830)
In Context
I use this definition because I'm limiting its usage in a certain context for specific purposes.
There are as many types of meditations as there are individual needs. Some of these practices are not healthy,
they can open up your being to harmful spiritual forces without you being aware of what is happening to you.
I will focus on Biblical,
Catholic and Christian meditation. As far as I'm aware, there are no risk or harm
associated with these types once you are exercising a sincere and pure motive for your personal
growth and development.
Know your reason
Your motive is the driving force that allows you into meditating. You may realize that something is
wrong with your life, your thought process, your actions and behaviour towards others,
your relationship with your creator and significant others. You may want to change certain aspect of
your life by reflecting on a verse or a passage of scripture.
You may want to know some more about deeper spiritual matters, such as God,
Salvation, Mercy,
Forgiveness,
Grace, Eternal Life, the Holy Spirit, Jesus the Christ, the last things etc.
You may want to take your level of consciousness the next dimention, where your thought and
your mind is focused on God and the things of God day and night.
Learning how to meditate this way
is to develope a dedicated and disciplined lifestyle.
This type of meditation can positively affect your brain and your "heart" - the centre of your emotion -,
and make you more compassionate, kind, understanding and loving. In other words, meditation can transform your life.
What's best for you
You can consciously change certain ways or your behaviour towards others.
Although it is a private and personal matter, you can discover what work best for you, however, I'm
recommending to you what worked for me.
Find a quiet place where there is no disturbance. (Be still and know that God is...)
Concentrate your thought prayerfully on that situation you want to change or improve.
The time depends on how much you have each day or week.
Write everything on paper you want to change, behaviour, things you say,
persons who hurt and make you bitter, etc. Burn that paper.
Until your change come
Then see yourself as the person you really want to be, write on a different sheet of paper,
the person you want to be in thoughts, words and deeds,
a better spouse, a better parent, a better worker, a better listener, etc.
Then make a resolution in your heart and mind through that mental prayer, to be that better person.
Do this as often as necessary until you see change. It comes with practise, practise and more practise.
The mystery of Life
Life is a mystery that is being unfolded every day, but never enough for us to have the full truth.
The body that we are born with is more than just matter,
it is both physical and spiritual.
If you want to get more spiritual discernment and insight about life,
then reading a book of the Bible or an inspirational book on a spicific topic and then go aside and meditating on it;
accompanied with prayer as you seek to get answers and strengths about life or revelation on certain truth.
You are never alone
Meditation is usually a private, personal and individual experience. Although it is all of these things,
you are not alone in your time of quiet reflections. What do I mean by that? You maybe alone as a physical person, however, around us
there are always energy, forces or influences that affect us positively or negatively.
This world is both physical and spiritual, the visible and the invisible.
For eg. can you see electricity? can you see the breeze?, can you see an electromagnectic wave?
But to deny their existence would be to your own detriment.
When you are meditating, be conscious of these invisible forces around you. Especially a force, an
energy, an entity, an invisible being, an Omnipotent Spirit call God, the creator of everything visible and invisible.
During this exercise, let your mind focus on that entity, believing that the mysterious invisible
presence is able to influence your thought process and reveal things to your and sub-conscious conscious mind.
Just believe
Don't try to understand it all, you never will, just believe. Because guess what, if you choose not to
believe, that does not change one iota of truth that exist. How much of life do you understand? I can tell you,
not very much. Much of what you know and accept as facts, are the belief and theories of others.
There is much more to be revealed about the mystery of life, and focusing on God is one way to get revelation.
Our time in this present life is very short, so find out all you can about life.

Your HealthMeditation Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, Oh Lord my strength and my redeemer. Psalm 19:14 To many, the word "meditation" often brings to mind Eastern religions. But from the earliest days of the Church, Christians have used meditation as an essential part of prayer
